"Make only programs / that can seduce and grow"

From 2017 and 2022 Notebooks

I’m working a basketball camp this week and next, so likely no new writing, but I will be posting a few old notebook entries reflecting (very earnestly) on transformative organizing and wealth redistribution, mostly written during my time with Resource Generation.

Here are two from today’s date, in 2017 and 2022, respectively.

It takes all of us. All of our special traits.

Not to be neoliberal about it. But

My compassion, ability to feel

Alone is insufficient

And helpful. Part of me

Wants to beat back fascism by organizing piles of marbles 

“Nose to the grind", seven years logistical emotional labor 

A sentence I’m reluctant to write

Because it’s true.

It takes all of us. Theory of change

Means strength in tension.

Act with moral courage,

But beware moralism.


Beware moralism, 

But act with moral courage.


Model yourself anything you’d dare to ask of others. Make sure you can own it fully

Before making of it a program.


Make only programs

That can seduce and grow

The movement.


“Redistribution”

As individuals only 

Is a trap.


Build a winning program.
